Elway: Tebow 'Disappointed,' Handled News with Class

Tim Tebow is handling the loss of his starting quarterback position with the NFL's Denver Broncos with class, according to Broncos executive John Elway.

Elway told a news conference Tuesday that Tebow was "disappointed but understanding" when told of Denver's plans to sign former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

Tebow's reaction didn't surprise Elway, who said he's the kind of guy he hopes his daughter would marry.

For as much as Manning's signing has meant to Denver, Elway hopes this opportunity turns out well for Tebow, too.

"It would be our goal to get him in the best situation possible, for him to have success also," Elway said.
Tebow's future is getting as much press coverage as Manning's deal with the Broncos. The devout Christian led the Denver team back to the playoffs last season for the first time since 2005. He's been a role model since his days at Florida where he led the Gators to two national titles.

Manning said he planned to reach out to Tebow once he settles in after his whirlwind free agency tour of several NFL franchises.

"I know what kind of player Tim Tebow is, what kind of person he is," Manning said. "What an awesome year he had this year. If Tim Tebow is here next year, I'm going to be the best teammate I can be to him. He and I are going to help this team win games."
"If other opportunities present themselves to him, I'm going to wish him the best. He's going to be a great player wherever he is," he said.

Several teams are said to be in discussions with the Broncos about a trade for the former Heisman trophy winner, including San Francisco and Green Bay, as well as Tebow's hometown team, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
