Slaves to righteousness

It is said that when Abraham Lincoln told a young slave girl he had just purchased that he was setting her free, she asked, “To go anywhere I want to go?” Lincoln said, “Yes.” The girl replied, “Then I’m going with you!” Such is our attitude toward Christ. We were slaves of sin until we surrendered to Jesus Christ; now we are slaves of righteousness (see Rom. 6:19). With grateful hearts, we love our Master and delight to do His will.

Deuteronomy 15:16 And if it happens that he says to you, I will not go away from you, because he loves you and your house, since he prospers with you,17 then you shall take an awl and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant forever. Also to your female servant you shall do likewise.
