God always answers prayer. Sometimes He says yes; sometimes He says no, and sometimes He says, "Wait for a minute." And since to the Lord a day is as a thousand years (2Peter 3:8), that could mean a ten year wait for us. So ask in faith, but rest in peace-filled patience.
Surveys show that more than 90% of Americans pray daily. No doubt they pray for health, wealth, happiness, etc. They also pray when grandma gets sick, and when grandma doesn't get better (or dies), many end up disillusioned or bitter. This is because they don't understand what the Bible says about prayer. It teaches, among other things, that our sin will keep God from even hearing our prayer (Psalm 66:18), and that if we pray with doubt, we will not get an answer (James 1:6,7).
Jesus says (Mark 11:22-26), believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. When you pray do you say, 'well if it happens, it's God's will and that's great. But if it doesn't happen, it wasn't God's will and that's okay'. If you were to tell me your name, and where you work and I told you, "I don't believe that" no matter how many times you tell me, and I keep telling you I don't believe you, you would probably get offended. Because if I don't believe you that mean I think you're devious, you're a liar, you're not worth trusting. And if you as a mere man are offended in my lack of faith in you're words, how much more offended is a Holy God in your lack of faith in His precious promises that are to be more desired than gold?! So how much do you value prayer? Is it boring to you? Or do you see it as what it truly is which is the extreme privilege to come before the throne room of glory asking what you will for His glory, for His kingdom, for His praise and worship.
Think about the cross today! Think about your own sins...do they grieve you at all? Do they keep you from communicating with your Father in Heaven? There is an intercessor. Jesus Christ suffered and died on a cross for payment of your sins. Those healing carpenter hands that once held nails and wood, were now being held by nails to wood! God commended His love towards us in this. That while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Do you know that it was a legal transaction that took place on the cross?! We broke God's law (lying, thieving, looking with lust, etc), but Jesus stepped in and paid our fine in His blood. God can now legally dismiss our case. Please think about this, especially today! Thanks for reading, and as always God bless you!
