Without the illumination of the moral Law, man is in darkness as to his true sinful condition in God’s eyes (see Rom. 7:7,13). The Law demands perfect righteousness (see Psa. 19:7). Even one transgression against its holy precepts will condemn us (see James 2:10), but in reality, the most righteous of human souls has a multitude of sins (see Jer. 30:15; James 5:20).
