US Missionary Couple Martyred in Mexico

An American missionary couple were killed in northern Mexico during an apparent robbery, outside of Monterrey.
John and Wanda Casias, originally from Amarillo, Texas, had lived in Mexico for more than 30 years.
John was a Baptist preacher. Together, the couple ran a church in Santiago, about three miles from their home, where they held services and prayer meetings.
Their loved ones said drug cartels made living in the area dangerous for the missionaries. But the missionaries' love for the Mexican people convinced them to stay, despite the danger.
"There's no doubt that they're going to be remembered as martyrs," the couple's son, Judah Casias said.
"They loved God. They died in the battlefield for God," he said.
A safe and electronics were discovered missing from their home after the two were killed. Their deaths mark the second slaying of American missionaries in that region of Mexico in a year.
